1st Nov 2012 | 12:23
It's November, which means that tons of lads will be taking part in Movember, which means there'll be badass moustaches (and probably some quite shit moustaches) everywhere.
So, in honour of Movember, here are the top ten rock and heavy metal moustaches EEEEEEEEVER. Happy days. Please note, moustaches are not rated purely on size. Style, colour and texture are also important. This is a very serious scientific study.

10. BILL KELLIHER
Mastodon's human riff machine has not only helped to craft some of the most scintillating metal of the 21st century, but he's also trailblazed the way for handlebar-lovers everywhere. What a man. What. A. Man.
9. DEREK SMALLS
Spinal Tap's iconic bassist has worn his 'tache with pride through all fads, musical trends and fashion eras. An inspiration to us all.
8. TED NUGENT
7. FRANK ZAPPA
6. ANDY WILLIAMS
JUST LOOK AT THAT MOUSTACHE. LOOK AT THAT MAN. LOOK AT HIM. He looks like he should be wrestling bears in the snow, not playing with Every Time I Die. Although we're glad he's playing with Every Time I Die. Note how the beard completes the Heavy Metal Lumberjack look nicely.
5. BOBBY LIEBLING
4. ALL OF BLACK SABBATH EXCEPT OZZY
We like to think that those titanic riffs were helped along just a little bit by some damn fine facial hair. Maybe. Probably not. Either way, Iommi in particular knew what's up.
3. JAMES HETFIELD
Whisky-downing, bass-thumping, metal-innovating, girl-loving, cigarette-smoking, middle finger-pointing, handlebar-bossing LAD. Remember when he shaved it off? It sucked. Lemmy needs that handlebar like we need Motorhead. Which is loads.
1. FREDDIE MERCURY
Wonder where Hetfield nabbed his call-and-response crowd banter from? Right here. Wonder where Hetfield got his moustache from? Actually probably not from Freddie Mercury. Nonetheless, this man's tache truly rules them all; an iconic image for arguably the greatest frontman in rock 'n' roll history. Love Queen? Love the tache. It's simple.
